In Kenya’s South Rift, Maasai communities are showing how tradition and innovation can work hand in hand to restore land, strengthen livelihoods, and protect wildlife. Guided by the South Rift Association of Land Owners (SORALO), they are reviving degraded rangelands, running women-led seed banks, and using rotational grazing as a “grass bank” against drought. The result is a living model of resilience where people, livestock, and nature all thrive together.
