Drawing on field research across three Bangladeshi communities, the report delves into the lived experiences of internally displaced people (IDPs) and the structural gaps that prolong their vulnerability. It showcases promising interventions by local civil society organizations that help IDPs move toward sustainable livelihoods and social stability, while also critically examining emerging national policies such as the National Strategy on Internal Displacement Management. One such case study included is on the Climate Resilient Migrant Friendly Towns Initiative, funded by GCA with a grant from the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and done in collaboration with the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), BRAC, and the Mongla Municipality.
The report calls for rethinking conventional durable solutions to address displacement in an era of escalating climate impacts.
