Future research directions for climate-sensitive social protection

Lessons from the Sahel region reveal that scaling up existing social protection programs may be more beneficial to strengthening climate adaptation and resilience than redesigning national systems and programs. Adaptive social protection systems that integrate climate risk offer a practical way to help communities cope with the impacts of climate change.
