Community initiatives are the starting point for transformative adaptation to ready our world for a changed climate, according to this study. Decentralized place-based policies to support citizen initiatives, a shared collective identity, and collective, shared or distributive forms of leadership are among the factors necessary to unleash the transformative potential of such initiatives.
