Tanzanian Vice-President Dr. Philip Mpango called on the global community to ensure climate finance funds reach local communities who are on the front lines of climate change. Speaking at the GCA's Awards Ceremony for the 2024 Local Adaptation Champions Awards held at COP29 in Baku, he stressed the need to empower innovators at the community-level. The event honored winners from Burkina Faso, Indonesia, Argentina and Kiribati. GCA's CEO, Professor Patrick Verkooijen, also emphasized the organization's commitment to bridge the gap between international finance and local climate action.
